BSX Index falls 37.7 points

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange index dropped 37.7 points or 1.41 percent yesterday in a day which saw heavy trading in Bank of Bermuda shares.

Despite the heavy trading which saw more than 32,000 Bank of Bermuda shares change hands, the share price remained unchanged at $48 at the end of the day, whereas the Bank of Butterfield lost $1.50 or 4.3 percent with only 562 shares trading hands.

SAL Limited suffered a loss of $7 per share or 58.3 percent falling from its 52-week high of $12 down to $5 after just 100 shares were traded.

The parent company of The Royal Gazette, Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. also lost ground, posting a $1 or ten percent loss after 2,600 shares traded hands to end the day at $9.

A total of 35,682 shares worth $1,613,732.00 were traded on the exchange yesterday.
