BSX jumps as Bank of Butterfield soars to $38

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index yesterday moved up 43.68 points to close at 2,537.68.

Both the Bank of Bermuda and the Bank of N.T. Butterfield saw significant trading with some 6,000 shares trading in each case.

The Bank of Bermuda traded 6,600 shares and the Island's largest bank - which has a secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange - saw its stock drop $1.25 in price to $35.50.

For the Bank of N.T. Butterfield, there was trading of 6,301 shares and a significant gain of $3.50 in the bank's stock value to $38.

Bermuda Press - the parent company of The Royal Gazette - traded 412 shares while the stock price remained unchanged at $13.

On the utilities side, Belco Holdings traded 10,000 shares and gained $1 to close at $34. KeyTech - the parent company of BTC, BTC Mobility and Logic Communications - traded 300 shares.
