The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index gained 12.208 points yesterday to close at 4,430.06.

On a moderate trading day Butterfield Bank rose 50 cents to close at $57.50 as investors traded in 2,908 shares.

Bermuda Commercial Bank gained 45 cents to close at $8.25 on volume of 79,900 shares and BF&M rose 25 cents to close at $18.75 as 2,555 shares changed hands.

Meanwhile Belco fell $2 to close at $38 on volume of 3,428 shares and Argus traded in 2,300 shares to close unchanged at $13.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $1,035,901.50 and the overall volume of shares was 91,091 shares.
