Michael Jones has been promoted to Chief Technician. Mr. Jones has been with Cablevision since the Company's inception and recalls installing the huge satellite reception dishes at Laffan Street 13 years ago as well as turning on service for the first home.
Beginning his career as an installer, Mr. Jones has progressively taken on greater levels of technical and managerial responsibility. When he was only 19, he was put in charge of a construction crew, overseeing the installation of service lines.
He later became an installer technician, and was then promoted again to service manager. Prior to assuming his current position, he had been senior plant maintenance technician since December 1998.
He was the first Bermudian to pass the National Cable Television Institute (NCTI) courses to become an installer technician, service technician and advanced technician. Training is an integral part of the job, and he is currently working on further certifications from the NCTI. He has personally trained the majority of Cablevision's technicians.
In his current role, Mr. Jones is responsible for oversight of all cable service technical issues as well as managing Cablevision's team of technicians. He is also in charge of recruiting and training new technicians and participating in the development of the new system rebuild, which involves the installation of fibre optic cables across Bermuda.
Mr. Jones has lived in every parish in Bermuda except Smith's. He grew up in Southampton, Warwick, Devonshire and Sandys, and attended Warwick Secondary School as well as the Bermuda Hotel College.
Shavonne Jeffries has been promoted to customer service manager. Ms Jeffries joined Cablevision 13 years ago as a customer service representative, and was later promoted to supervisor. In her current position, she is responsible for managing a team of ten customer service representatives at both the Laffan Street and Church Street offices.
Her role is to ensure Cablevision customers receive the best possible response to their needs, whether they are for new installations, changes in service, billing inquiries, payments or roll out of new service offerings. In addition to her managerial responsibilities, Ms Jeffries also provides training to staff members as required.
Ms Jeffries, who is originally from St. George's, is a graduate of the Whitney Institute.
Denise Burchall has been promoted to dispatch manager. Ms Burchall has been a dispatcher with Cablevision for more than four years. As a dispatch manager, she is responsible for overseeing the flow of work orders and the routing of all technicians and installers for the company.
Ms Burchall is from Pembroke parish and attended Berkeley Institute and has worked with Cablevision since 1997. Prior to that she was employed at the Hamilton Princess Hotel.
