Harris' teaching methods set to go global

A local consulting firm has just patented its teaching methods and is set to go global with the new methodology.

Creative Consulting, which is run by businessman Jack Harris, is now looking for local backers to help get the business off the ground internationally.

The system, called "The Design and Build Process" is a universal method for providing a speed-learning and tailor-made training systems for companies.

Mr Harris said: "We can reduce the time training takes by up to 60 percent and the cost by up to 50 percent."

Mr. Harris said he has spent four years working on the system and testing it on local and international companies.

"Our research has uncovered the key issues facing consumers and providers of organisational and staff development training is how to minimise disruptions to workplaces caused by staff attending training sessions, plus boredom by the slow pace of training and frustration because the training does not meet the recipients' needs.

"There is also unnecessary time spent re-learning skills already possessed, a lowering of morale amongst those involved in the training planning process and a lack of motivation for training staff caused by the backlog of work caused by attending training sessions."

He said, in response to these concerns, Creative Consulting developed the new patented programmes to help companies address the problems. Mr. Harris said companies can help solve these problems by his new methods.

First he sets up a learning profile to determine learning objectives and the benefits of it. Then the learning objectives are separated into individual sections to "enhance recall and revision".

Then the personal needs of students are researched and then participants are divided into special groups and pairs to stimulate networking for high interest topics.

Then to add to the interactive learning process, workplace realism is brought in to create realistic scenarios to facilitate learning.

Role plays are also use as well as case studies to help the participants make the learning relevant to their workplace.

Mr. Harris said: "This process minimises the training time and thereby disruptions to the workplace and the employer gets better value for their training dollar."
