International Business Week announced
The Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) announced yesterday the dates for the Sixth Annual International Business Week - September 14 to 20.
The weeklong celebration is designed to heighten the public's awareness of careers, scholarships, training programmes and charitable contributions provided by this sector to Bermuda's community, said BIBA in a press release.
Chairman of the Local Awareness Committee, Dueane Dill said: "We are excited about the events that we have planned for International Business Week 2003.
"The highlight will be a two-day conference at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on September19 and 20. BIBA has invited all of the island's senior schools, plus the Bermuda College to attend day one and we'll be providing information on entrepreneurship, the type of jobs Bermuda's economy needs, and pursuing a career that you love.
"Day two will be of special benefit for those who have a job, but are searching for a career. Professional designations, on-island training opportunities and scholarships for mature students are a few of the exciting topics we have planned. If you are ready to take the next step in your career, contact BIBA today to sign up."
Mr. Dill added that he was "thrilled" to have world-renowned motivational speaker, James Malinchak attend the conference.
"A well-known speaker on the US College Circuit, James inspires his audience to jump up and make things happen, and we are very pleased that he will be here in Bermuda, doing just that," he said.
Local Programmes & Marketing Coordinator, Kristin White said they still had "all the old favourites", such as the Daily Radio Quiz featuring questions and prizes from companies around the island and the scavenger hunt for Senior School Students. BIBA will also be visiting primary schools with more Reba and Bobby Biba goodies. Reba and Bobby Biba were launched as the mascots of the Primary School Programme last year and are featured in the International Business Colouring Book. Also included this year: a Youth Debate, Free Profession Planning, and three television programmes.
