Local stock exchange bucks global trend

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index closed fractionally higher to close at 2,357.80 last week - posting a 0.328 point gain or 0.01 percent.

More than 200,000 shares worth $7.69 million were traded, as well as 240,000 bonds worth $232,800.

Both the Bank of Bermuda and Butterfield remained unchanged at the end of the week, the Bank of Bermuda Closing at $40 after 159,396 shares were traded, and the Bank of Butterfield closed at $31.50 after 28,021 shares were traded.

Bermuda Commercial Bank closed down 45 cents or 5.63 percent to end the week at $7.55 on volume of 6,200.

LOM Holdings Ltd, lost 25 cents or 6.41 percent to close at $3.65 after 1,000 shares were traded.BF&M Ltd. gained 5 cents or 0.61 percent to close at $8.30 on volume of 428.

Bermuda Aviation Services lost 5 cents or 0.7 percent to close at $7.10 on volume of 3,300, and Belco Holdings Ltd. gained 50 cents or 2 percent to close at $25.50 after 10,067 shares were traded.
