Paragon seals deal with new IT manager
Paragon Bermuda have announced the appointment of Jeffrey Jabon to manager of the insurance/reinsurance section of their recently launched Financial Services Technology Group (FSTG).
Launched in August, the new division provides senior information technology (IT) services for Bermuda's banking, finance, investment and insurance companies.
The group offers a variety of services including software development and implementation, strategic business analysis, review and recommendation of a company's processes and project management.
Mr. Jabon said that technology in general was helping companies to grow their business, and said of his qualifications: "It is rare to find an individual who has industry experience as well as the ability to act as a bridge between technology and business."
He also said that the use of technology is not necessarily to provide a competitive advantage, rather it is all about customer service.
Mr. Jabon said that Paragon not only had a good relationship with IT personnel, but they also pursue the decision makers or those in the "C-level," that is chief executive, chief financial, and chief operational officers.
Mr. Jabon says that through working with the "C-level" people, FSTG will ensure that financial services companies achieve their core business objectives by strategically applying software, internet and other computer technologies to address the challenging issues those companies face in today's market place.
In his new role, Mr. Jabon's responsibilities will include business and process evaluation, work-flow design and documentation, scope definition and programme management for insurance clients.
He will be part of a team of five in the FSTG and will report to the Managing Director.
Joining Mr. Jabon at FSTG are Simon Storey, Technical Director and Manager of the Banking and Investment section, Andy Annett, Senior e-business Consultant, and Heidi Dokko, Senior Business Analyst.
Glen Henderson, Managing Director at Paragon is delighted to have Jeffrey on the team and said: "Jeffrey is a rare individual because he brings with him a synergy of technological, analytical and insurance industry experiences.
His unique set of skills will be a great asset to our client base."
Prior to joining Paragon, Mr. Jabon was a manager at ONTOS Inc., a Massachusetts based technology company, where he was an insurance business specialist. He provided strategic planning and business analysis for insurance clients who wanted to leverage their existing legacy systems for e-Business.
While there, he was the key driver behind the creation of a web-enabled, submit, quote and bind underwriting solution.
Before working at ONTOS, Mr. Jabon worked for the American International Group (AIG) initially as an underwriter in the domestic brokerage group.
He then became senior underwriter responsible for overseeing his business unit's facultative reinsurance (known as "fac-re") budget and the general management and placement of fac-reinsured accounts.
Later as the Senior Surplus Lines Underwriter, he supported the development of the Surplus & Excess Professional Liability business unit before being appointed to the datawarehouse team as a Senior Business Analyst.
Mr. Jabon is a member of the Project Management Institute, the International Who's Who of professionals and the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
