Cable and Wireless this week announced the "Big Deal Platinum" calling plan, which the company says will drive the cost of residential and long distance calls to as low as 19 cents per minute.

Effective February 15, residents who sign up for the calling plan can expect to pay as low as 19 cents per minute for all calls to the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland.

Calls to the rest of Europe are now as 29 cents per minute and 39 cents per minute to the rest of the world, depending on whether calls are made during evenings and weekends.
