Rana-Fahy called to the Bar

, an Associate of Appleby Spurling Hunter was called to the Bar on March 31.Mrs. Rana-Fahy, a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Group, practices general commercial litigation, specialising in employment and immigration matters.She also advises on insurance and reinsurance claims, construction and engineering disputes, shipping litigation and bankruptcy.

Mrs. Rana-Fahy, a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Group, practices general commercial litigation, specialising in employment and immigration matters.

She also advises on insurance and reinsurance claims, construction and engineering disputes, shipping litigation and bankruptcy.

Mrs. Rana-Fahy joined Appleby in April 2005. Prior to that time she worked at London City law firms Lovells and CMS Cameron McKenna in their insurance/reinsurance departments before commencing her training and post qualification practice at the law firm of Elborne Mitchell in the City of London.

At Elborne Mitchell she specialised in insurance/reinsurance and shipping disputes.

Mrs. Rana-Fahy graduated from Kingston University, UK in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting and Law, following which she completed the Legal Practice Certificate in 1999 from the College of Law, London.

She was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2003 (now non-practising) and is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.

has been promoted to assistant general manager Bermuda CableVision

The position of Assistant General Manager was left vacant in recent years and has now been filled by Mr. Smith as a result of a reorganisation at the company.

He continues to oversee customer care, human resource development and the day-to-day operations of CableVision. He reports to Jeremy Elmas, CableVision?s general manager.

Most recently, Mr. Smith was Operations Manager at Bermuda CableVision.

He joined CableVision in November 2001, when the position of Customer Solutions Manager was created.

His mission was to bring qualitative and process driven improvements to CableVision?s customer service operations.

Mr. Smith comes from a background in customer solutions management, having previously held similar positions at H.W.P. Group from 1997 to 2001, at Holmes Williams and Purvey from 1992 to1994 and as a Manager at Bermuda Motors from 1986 to 1992. Jeremy Elmas said: ?I am delighted to be announcing Alan?s promotion.

?Alan has made a significant contribution to CableVision in his role as Operations Manager as we have built our broadband network and rolled out digital service.?

?I am confident that he will contribute to the company?s growth as we roll out new services and congratulate him on his promotion.?

A Bermuda resident for 30 years, Mr. Smith is married to a Bermudian.

He has owned and operated two businesses.

He holds City and Guild certificates as a motor vehicle technician as well as product certificates from BASF and testing certification from the Ministry of Transport.

Mr. Smith has also completed Sewell?s development training in team building, and in 2003 received a cable installation certification from the National Cable Television Institute.

Ship Finance International Ltd., owner of most of the oil tankers operated by Frontline Ltd., hired as chief executive officer.

Solbakken, 48, who currently is employed by Fortis, will start at Hamilton, Bermuda-based Ship Finance during the second quarter, the company said today in a statement on Hugin.

Solbakken is currently general manager for Norway at Brussels-based Fortis Bank. From 1987 to 1997, he worked for a unit of Nordea Bank AB.
