Chairman of the Board, Mr. Eldon Trimingham said: "The time has come to trade their wisdom for younger blood, but we will always remember the years of valuable service they dedicated to the Bank.'' Mr. Stewart, who served on the Board for 23 years, described his service as "one of the most interesting and challenging appointments one could hope to have''.

He was managing director of the Argus group of companies for 30 years and continues to be a director of several local and exempted companies.

He served for many years on the governing bodies of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, the Bermuda International Business Association and was a founding member of Bermuda Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Gibbons retires from the Board after 21 years of service. He said: "Over the past several decades, the Bank of Bermuda has carried out a remarkable expansion programme both domestically and on an international basis due very largely to the professional expertise, vision and wisdom of previous chief general managers and officers of the Bank.

"In more recent years, this aggressive development has accelerated under the guidance of the president and CEO, ably supported by a host of very capable executives and staff.'' Mr. Gibbons joined Gibbons Company in 1946 and recently retired as president of Edmund Gibbons Ltd., the controlling company of the Gibbons group of companies.

He was elected as a Common Councillor for the Corporation of Hamilton in 1949, a position he held until 1960 when he was elected Alderman, becoming Deputy Mayor.

In 1972, Mr. Gibbons was elected Mayor of Hamilton and held this office until 1988. He has also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce between 1950 and 1951 and has served on several Government boards.

**** Mr. Marcello Lupparelli has celebrated 25 years of employment with Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort. Mr. Lupparelli joined the hotel in 1967 as a busboy and worked his way to assistant matire d' in the Windsor Room Restaurant.

The Castle Harbour Quarter Century Club has now inducted 12 members since its inception in 1953. The organisation holds a special dinner in honour of all new inductees. In addition, each receives a card which allows them complimentary room and amenities at Marriott hotels all over the world.
