BIBA looks for top marketer
who will project a consistent image of Bermuda's fast expanding international business sector.
The association was formed to act as a platform for local professional bodies to discuss international business issues and also market Bermuda to potential and establish overseas clients.
Outgoing marketing consultant Mrs. Karen Georgevic said the new appointment of a full-time marketing manager reflected the association's desire to capitalise on the local growth of international business, which last year overtook tourism as Bermuda's highest revenue earner.
So far, there has been a `good response' from applicants for the position, said Mrs. Georgevic. She stressed the new manager would have to create a consistent image of diverse sectors, such as mutual funds, personal trusts, mutual funds, Foreign Sales Corporations (FSCs) and shipping.
"They all have different client bases, and different geographic markets. For this reason, the marketing manager needs to orchestrate all the different sectors in a uniform manner so Bermuda is consistently promoted overseas.'' The manager is being recruited by the Association's Marketing Committee, which is headed by accountant Mr. Greg Haycock.
"The new marketing manager will be involved in developing a marketing plan.
The market research completed by the present consultant will be used to develop that plan, which markets Bermuda as a specific entity,' said Mr.
Haycock.
Candidates must have a research background, understand the finance sector and also have a good understanding of "what marketing is about in its purest sense,'' said Mrs. Georgevic.
"This encompasses not only understanding marketing services agencies but having a strategic overview,' she said.
"The association wants to raise Bermuda's profile in a careful way that is not too brash as Bermuda already has a good reputation,' said Mrs. Georgevic.
Mrs. Georgevic held the post for a year and previously acted as a freelance marketing consultant in the UK, where she returns on Monday.
