Mr. Hollis has been Acting Director for the past year and has been with the department for 28 years.

He has served as Assistant Director, Senior Planner, Planner and Assistant Planner.

"The major portion of Mr. Hollis's new duties will be the responsibility for managing the operation of the Planning department, including the development control, building control, forward planning and administrative sections of the department,'' said a press release announcing the appointment.

Mr. Hollis holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. He also holds a real estate agent's licence.

As Director, Mr. Hollis will "provide advice to the Minister in all matters relating to planning, land use management and development,'' said the announcement.

He will also liase with the public, the media and other Ministries on planning related matters.

The appointment took effect on March 1.
