Lawyer Mr. Joe Wakefield, who represents Strawberry Hill, said the money was the outstanding balance for a condominium Mr. Todd bought from the company.

Mr. Todd is currently the defendant in seven civil law suits at Bermuda Supreme Court and is also being investigated by Bermuda Police.

In one of the actions, brought by Mr. Leonard Hendrickson, he is a co-defendant with financially troubled lawyer Mr. Charles Vaucrosson.

No judgments have been made against Mr. Todd and no charges have been brought against him.

The first civil actions against him are expected to be heard on November 29, 1993.

In those matters, Mr. Derrick Burgess and Mr. Merkell Cavon Devant Smith are seeking judgments for $278,000 and $215,554, respectively.

Mr. Todd was suspended from his job in the loans department of the Bank of Bermuda in December, 1990, and resigned three months later.

Last year, The Royal Gazette revealed details of an allegation that Mr. Todd, while still at the bank, had authorised a $275,000 unsecured loan to a company in which he held a 20 percent stake.

The company, local tour boat operator Bermuda Excursions, which was run by Mr.

Llewellyn Peniston, is now in liquidation.

Mr. Todd's lawyer, Mr. John Riihiluoma, was yesterday unavailable for comment.
