The Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSE) closed up 8.75 points or .80 percent in moderate trading last week as gainers outnumbered losers 4-2 with two listings
worth $382,441 for the week ending January 6, 1995. In a new BSE format noting the week's change for listings traded, Argus closed up 75 cents at $11 on volume of 1,102 while Telco jumped 50 cents to close at $37.50 on volume of 250. The Bank of Bermuda gained 25 cents to close at $20.25 on volume of 7691 while its warrants closed unchanged at $2.75 on volume of 3284. BF&M gained 37.5 cents to close at $6.75 on volume of 15,130. Hemisphere Group preferred dropped 25 cents to close at $5.25 on volume of 700 while Bank of Butterfield dropped 12.5 cents to $12.50 on volume of 4496. Belco closed unchanged at $20.25 on volume 1716. As well as the week's change, the BSE chart also includes reformatted groups. Broadcasting and newspaper printing have been combined into media while real estate, information services and transportation are new categories. Banks is renamed banks and financial institutions.
Consumer services, insurance, utilities, and international companies remain the same. Government issue and corporate issue groups are now under the heading fixed income instead of bonds and debentures. The mutual funds, no longer listed with the BSE chart, continue in the mutual fund section.
