BCB chief to quit Island
he is leaving the Island.
Mr. Roberts has said he will be leaving his post, which he has held for three years, at the end of the year.
He will be returning to Britain, his home base, and has at present no plans to take up a post there.
Mr. Roberts took the helm at Bermuda's third bank when his predecessor, Audette Exel, returned to Australia unexpectedly in 1996.
Bank chairman John Deuss, thanking Mr. Roberts for his contribution, made specific reference to a number of new systems which have been put in place during Mr. Roberts's tenure.
Mr. Deuss said these new systems have positioned BCB well to take advantage of the challenges and opportunities that are opening up for financial services providers as a result of advances in information technology and communications.
Mr. Roberts expressed gratitude to the bank's board and staff for their support during his time at BCB.
"This has been an exciting, professionally rewarding and extremely happy assignment for me,'' Mr. Roberts said.
"On a personal note, my family and I have loved Bermuda. We look forward to keeping in touch with all our friends here -- but BCB will be a hard act to follow!'' Barry Munholland, who joined BCB to head up Corporate Treasury last year, will act as Managing Director after Mr. Roberts sets sail for the UK.
On the move: Peter Robertts, BCB managing director.
