Permanent Secretary of Finance, Donald Scott said that the ministry wanted to clarify that the fuel oil that Belco uses to generate electricity was not impacted by the five percent fuel tax increase in last month's Budget.
Mr. Scott was responding to a story in yesterday's Royal Gazette which said that Belco was unsure of how fuel increases would affect them. Mr. Scott said: "Belco has its own tariff code -- Customs Procedure Code - and this section was not affected.''
