job of executive vice president.

Advertisements have been placed inviting applications for a successor to incumbent Ms Carolyn Mello, who leaves in September for a new position at Kempe & Whittle/Ernst & Young as business manager.

Immediate past president of the Chamber Mr. Louis Mowbray said that there had been enquiries before the ad was even placed.

Mr. Mowbray said that Ms Mello will be missed at the Chamber, having brought a significant amount of energy to the job during her four-year tenure.

The successful candidate for the job is to have primary responsibilities that include representing the interests of the business community, building stronger relationships with Government and other industry partners and building, implementing and evaluating strategic plans to develop and enhance commercial interests.

The new executive vice president must also manage all communications from the Chamber, including written reports and other publications and be responsible for financial planning and management of the Chamber's operations.

The new Chamber executive will be in charge of personnel and administer and coordinate the work of all divisions and committees, together with the ongoing management of the Visitor Service Bureaus.

The Chamber also expects all of their programmes and projects, including Bermuda Harbour Nights to be managed.

The advertisement calls for candidates with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experience with public relations and the media. The ability to work in a team environment and to motivate volunteers is essential.
