Dutchmen's Island dream
are building their own four masted ship and hope one day to return to the Island.
The pair, Arjen `Boogie' van der Veen, 25, and Jorne Langelaan, 22, are hoping Bermudians will sponsor them as try to build their own ship.
They arrived on the Island aboard the Europa and have wonderful memories of Bermuda.
Now based in South Haven, Michigan, they are building their own 52 foot 19th century Dutch flat bottom topsail `schonker'.
Bermudian Barbara Fullerton who befriended the pair last year, said they hope islanders will help them with money and expertise.
They are hoping to complete the construction of their tall ship, the Pierius Magnus by April.
"They had a wonderful time in Bermuda in the Europa and they hope one day to sail their own boat back to St. George's,'' said Mrs Fullerton.
"They are hoping people will donate money or expertise and in the longer term they are looking for crew.
"They are hoping people will charter the boat, but they really want to promote an international feeling on the tall ship.'' Anyone interested in contacting the pair should call 1 616 637 4284.
