VISITOR NUMBERS ON THE DECLINE TOU Visitor numbers on the decline The number of visitors arriving in Bermuda this year has continued to decline through last week.

Last year between January 1 and July 9, 211,893 arrived on the Island by air compared to the 201,406 this year, a 4.9 percent difference.

For the week ending July 9 air arrivals dropped 12.7 percent to 9,474 compared to 10,848 in the same week a year ago.

However, cruise ship arrivals have continued to stay above last year's figures by 3.5 percent with 72,422 arriving so far this year compared to 69,974 in 1994.

Last week six cruise ships brought 7,756 passengers to the Island which was 526 less than the same week last year.

HELICOPTER TO HELP TOURISM TOU Helicopter to help Tourism The Tourism Department will be using a helicopter today to film a new promotional advertisement.

A department spokesman said filming was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and be completed by 1 p.m.

The department apologised for any inconvenience this may cause to residents, particularly those living on the South Shore near Chaplin Bay in Warwick.

`BRAZEN' THIEF STEALS FROM VISITOR CRM `Brazen' thief steals from visitor A sunbathing visitor had his bag snatched from under him while his wife looked on, Police said yesterday.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the male visitor was sleeping on the beach with his belongings next to him while his wife took a swim.

The "brazen'' thief removed their bags containing cash, watches, a camera and other personal items, P.c. Venning said.

The matter was still under Police investigation.

PRICE OF PETROL GOES DOWN EGY Price of petrol goes down As of yesterday wholesale prices of petroleum products decreased.

Finance Minister the Hon. David Saul announced that the price of gasoline has gone down 1.9 cents per litre, diesel has dropped 0.1 cents per litre, and kerosene will stay the same.

As a consequence the maximum retail prices for petroleum products is 113.2 cents per litre for gasoline, 86.6 cents per litre for diesel and kerosene will stay the same at 66.0 cents per litre.
