Risk bosses head to Monte Carlo
later this year for the three-day Risk Management Forum.
The forum, co-sponsored by the European Association of Risk Managers and by the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS), is slated November 5-8.
Among the final day's sessions is a captive venue update with Bowring Bermuda managing director Ms Fiona Luck as moderator/speaker.
The captives update will focus on Bermuda and the Caribbean, Dublin, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands as well as Luxembourg and European captive venues.
The panel, with Ms Luck, includes; Gecalux Strassen managing director Mr.
Roland Frere and Unison Management (Dublin) Ltd. managing director Mr. John Perham.
Ms Luck joined Marsh McLennan Inc.'s captive management subsidiary in 1983 where she was responsible for managing all aspects of Fortune 500 captives.
In 1992 she became head of office for Bowring (Bermuda) Ltd., Marsh McLennan's broking subsidiary.
"The global marketplace is shrinking every year due to technological advances and everyone working in our discipline must be an international risk manager.
I believe the opportunity for North Americans to network with European insurers, brokers and risk managers is the key element of the conference,'' said conference co-chair Mr. Michael Cournier.
Mr. Cournier is with Alcatel Alsthom in Paris while the conference's other co-chairman is J.P. Morgan senior vice president Mr. William Kelly.
Mr. Kelly, RIMS president, participated in the risk management innovations session at the recent Bermuda Insurance Symposium II.
The keynote address will target risk management as a strategic business issue.
Forum sessions include; quality and the risk manager, political risks, scientific tools for risk management and a pan/eastern European update as well as a host of other risk-related topics.
The forum is a prime opportunity for risk managers from North America to meet with European risk managers.
Organisers have also slated a pre-conference introduction to risk management course.
