Saber cuts new business teeth

into becoming a complete cabling and electrical outfit. The company only did electrical work prior to the transformation, which involved retraining staff, and adding four more.

"The intent is that Saber can now be a single source provider of all conduit and wiring in a building,'' company consulting engineer Joe Fasulo said.

The company's technicians are now able to install computer, audio visual, fire, security, energy, and voice wiring. Last fall (1997) 14 Saber technicians, who are mostly Bermudian, took training to gain their certification in communications cabling. Last week (ended Jan. 16) eight of the technicians received additional training at the Bermuda College under electronics instructor Craig Scott.

Saber, which employs 24 staff, is owned by Al Wharton and Stanton Thompson.
