Shawn takes shine to new job

After studying business administration and finance, Dill, one of Bermuda's unusual new entrepreneurs, is building a mobile service for car cleaning.

Dill is taking advantage of the fact that car owners in Bermuda have a near obsession for clean cars, so there is no shortage of people who are seeking out his services.

The 27-year-old left Bermuda ten years ago for Lees McRae Junior College in North Carolina on a football scholarship, where he studied business administration. He returned home and worked for a year before going to American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he studied finance.

He said, "I returned to Bermuda facing a challenging and unstable workforce.

I got involved in the construction industry and waited tables. But I wanted to work for myself.'' Last June he began Waterless Car Wash. He bought a pager and hand-delivered promotional flyers to City businesses, and watched the calls start coming in.

He said, "We use no water, making us free to go directly to the customer and provide a professional service at a low cost. At $35 and $40, we are the most economical car cleaners. And, we do a thorough job.''
