Solar Enterprises declares loss
March 31 of more than $40,000. So why are the 72 shareholders still smiling? The loss announcement comes just weeks after it was revealed the company has been offered more than $7 million for 1,375.5 acres of land owned by the company in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
The company bought the land 22 years ago, and last month directors said a US investor had bid $7.09 million net, or $10.50 a share, for the undeveloped land on East Caicos island.
Solar's shares, rarely traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) since it was listed in 1993, have traded from a high of about $2.50 last year to $1.50 this August.
Directors were expected to approve the terms of a contract with purchaser Maryland-based Frank Joseph that would bring about $5,250 an acre for the property. The transaction was expected to close by November 27.
