The Royal Gazette understands Mr. Stigwood is asking $21 million for his 26-acre Wreck Hill Estate in Somerset.

This is the third time in less than two years that the 200-year-old estate, bought by Mr. Stigwood in 1978, has been on the market.

Mr. Stigwood, who is off the Island, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

But in a rare interview with this paper last November, the 57-year-old producer of such movie blockbusters as Grease and Saturday Night Fever denied any intention of severing ties with Bermuda.

"I'm not moving from Bermuda. Wreck Hill Estate is not on the market,'' he said, after rumours surfaced that his purchase of Barton Manor -- the former home of King Edward VII -- signalled his intention to leave the Island.

Mr. Stigwood said his purchase of the 107-acre Barton Manor, which includes a vineyard with 10 1 acres of vines and an annual production of 30,000 bottles, was a fortunate confluence of business and pleasure.

"I've bought a business which is one of the most successful vineyards in England,'' he said. "I also have a lot of friends there so it's convenient to have a house there.'' Mr. Stigwood, who also has a home in Australia, said he expected to spend up to five months a year at Barton Manor and much of the rest of the year at Wreck Hill.

The Wreck Hill property, which boasts a 12-room main house, three guest cottages, a swimming pool, pool house with spa and sauna, and a tennis court, was purchased by Australian-born Mr. Stigwood when it was threatened with development.
