BA Far East seat sale could return
such a success the airline is hoping to repeat it next year.
In January and February, flights were available to Australia, Malaysia, Tokyo and Hong Kong for $999.
BA Bermuda spokeswoman Sallie Singleton said there was a big take-up from hotel workers keen to take a holiday during the quiet season.
The added bonus was that it is summertime in January and February in those countries.
"The real winner for Bermuda was the long haul offer, which was a tremendous success and we are hoping we will be able to have another one next year,'' she said.
"It was especially good for hotel workers who could take a break at that time of the year and enjoy the summer weather in that hemisphere.'' Meanwhile, BA club class passengers are set to get flat beds on the Bermuda to London route. First class passengers already enjoy the privilege, but it is being introduced now on the Boeing 777.
BA switched last month from 777's to the smaller 767's as the airline increased frequency between London and the Island.
But the larger 777 jets are set to be reintroduced with flat beds for club class passengers, probably toward the end of next year.
Mrs. Singleton said: "The first route where flat beds are available to club passengers has been London to Washington.
"Bermuda will have the flat beds on club class probably toward the end of next year.'' She said she did not know if this would result in a change in price because BA had not yet worked out the configuration of the plane.
