Mr. Ian Sawden is vice president, claims and underwriting support for the company.

Mr. Sawden worked in the UK for Sun Alliance and Alexander Howden and came to Bermuda in 1979, where he worked in Bayly Martin and Fay's local office before moving to Belvedere Insurance Company in 1982 where he headed the claims department for six years.

He returned to England to set up his own claims auditing consulting company working for clients in the London, Europe, Bermuda and US markets. He returned to Bermuda in 1994.

Mr. Derek Ratteray has been named vice president, underwriting. Before joining Sphere Drake, Mr. Ratteray, 35, a Bermudian, was senior casualty vice president of underwriting at Belvedere Insurance Company in Bermuda. Prior to employment with Belvedere Insurance, he worked for Continental Re's Bermuda office.

Mr. Norman Doree is vice president, underwriting service. His background is underwriting at RECO in New York and broking at Frank B. Hall in Bermuda. He joined Sphere Drake in January, 1992. He is based in the US and travels extensively throughout the US with responsibility for pre-underwriting, pre-renewal and claims audits.

Mr. Art Brown is vice president, marketing. Mr. Brown, 49, a US citizen, worked for Alexander & Alexander and General Re. He has a background in broking and underwriting experience which is utilised in product marketing to a select list of manager intermediaries and brokers. He joined Sphere Drake in late 1993.

Ms Carol Paiva is vice president, underwriting. Prior to joining the underwriting team, Ms Paiva, 35, a Bermudian, had been in charge of claims handling and word processing since the formation of Sphere Drake in 1990. She started as an accounts processor before moving into word processing and claims.

Mr. Eric Keen vice president, underwriting Prior to joining Sphere Drake, Mr.

Keen, 37, had worked at KPMG Marwick for three years as that firm's consulting actuary. Prior to KPGM Marwick, Mr. Keen was with M&G Re in Toronto as a casualty actuary underwriting their excess of loss book. He is an FCAS and FCIA.
