The awards, which are in its tenth year, are based visitor reviews over the year.“We’re thrilled to be recognised, it’s not Trip Advisor, it’s the guests that come to stay with us,” said Tom Lamb, managing director of Pompano. “It’s really an honour when guests take the time to recommend us; this award means a lot to a place like us.”The hotel opened in 1956 and has about 100 full and part-time employees.“It’s a reward of all the hard work the staff does all year long,” said Mr Lamb. “It might be cliché but if you go above and beyond with service, by putting guests on a pedestal, you can achieve two things: a) hopefully getting them to come back and b) guests going home and telling their friends and family about their good experience.”The 75-room hotel has been named to Trip Advisor’s Caribbean Top 25 list in 2007, 2006 and 2005, when they scored the number one spot. The Royal Palms Hotel and Pompano Beach Club also made Trip Advisor’s ‘Top 25 Hotels for Best Service in the Caribbean’.It’s the first year 32-room Royal Palms Hotel has been named to Trip Advisor’s list.“I am particularly gratified by the award as it is based on the unbiased feedback by guests who actually stay at the hotel and who take the time to write a review and rate the hotel on Trip Advisor,” said Theresa Harney-Zuill, manager of Royal Palms.“Our staff are justifiably proud that their work has been recognised by the guests themselves.Sonia Whitter, resident manager added: “It is great to see that the hotels in question are all owned and managed by Bermudians.”
