Tourism Authority seeks marketing head

A hunt for a chief of sales and marketing for the new Bermuda Tourism Authority was launched yesterday.

Chairman designate of the authority David Dodwell said the position was key to driving the Island’s bid to revitalise the tourism industry.

He added: “This person will be one of the most senior members of the management team and we will expect him or her to be a dynamic experienced leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong track record.”

Adverts for the post — which will be based in the north-eastern US, the lsiand’s main market — will be carried in local media this week.

The sales and marketing chief will be responsible for managing a multimillion dollar budget, directing research, client relationships and preparing and strategy, with the aim of boosting the Bermuda brand.

The successful candidate is expected to have 12-15 years of experience in the field and a history of managing advertising, direct mail, e-commerce and sponsorship programmes.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority also said the ideal candidate would have a strong background in hospitality in resort destinations or oversight of multi-unit hospitality locations.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a first degree or Master’s degree in marketing, sales, business administration or other relevant field, although those with an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience will also be considered.
