The Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) has taken on two summer interns.

Zharia Rollins and Jazmine Outerbridge will spend ten weeks with the agency, working in a variety of areas, including business development, marketing, accounting and event planning.

Ms Rollins, 19, a former Bermuda Institute student studying for a degree in accounting and finance at England’s Manchester Metropolitan University, said: “I have the privilege of viewing first hand exactly how the BDA stimulates and creates growth in Bermuda.”

Ms Outerbridge, 20, who went to Warwick Academy then a sixth form college in the UK, is about to start a Bachelor of Business degree at Birbeck, part of the University of London.

She said: “Having the chance to work within each BDA department is fantastic as it is giving me a better understanding of business development in Bermuda and preparing me well for my leap into the working world.”

A spokeswoman for the BDA said: “The BDA internship programme is part of the agency’s efforts to support international business, including highlighting its importance to the Island’s economy and connecting Bermudians and others, both locally and overseas, who represent a useful resource for the sector.”
