A Bermuda-based management services firm is taking on the world — with plans to expand into the Cayman Islands.

Management Solutions, which opened three years ago and already has an office in the UK, now employs 25 people around the world.

Founder Don Mackenzie said: “It is always humbling and risky to start a new business, particularly in the consulting arena where we are a new company competing with established global consulting firms.

“Fortunately, we have been patient and have assembled a wonderful team of talented associates.

“It has taken three years to methodically develop the overseas markets and today we have a wonderful mixture of local and international clients who entrust us to make an impact on their firm.”

And Mr Mackenzie said the company opened UK office due to a rising number of European clients and the new Cayman office would service clients across the Caribbean.

He added: “The practice will continue to expand its geographical footprint based on where our clients take us.”

Management Solutions provides consultancy services covering organisational and leadership development, as well as transaction support, strategic planning and start-up support.

The firm undertakes a significant amount of work in leadership development and Mr Mackenzie said that tends to lead to longer-lasting client relationships and a high degree of client retention.

The company is looking to recruit another Bermuda-based staff member specialising in practice support — and said it continued to seek qualified extra staff members.

Company principal and practice leader in organisation development Eric Jenkinson said: “While we have a number of smaller engagements and clients, we focus on clients with whom we can have multiyear engagement and where we can make a meaningful impact on management performance and culture.

“We have a number of projects that are delivered over a four- to five-year period, meaning we have the opportunity to have lasting and positive impact on our clients.”

Mr Jenkinson added: “While Bermuda is a smaller market for us, we are committed to assisting Bermuda-based companies with leadership and culture development.

“Importantly, we are exposing our Bermuda-based associates to local and overseas engagements.

“We believe that Bermudians can perform on the international stage and as we speak, we have a number of overseas projects lined up for our Bermudian team.”
