Four pass company direction exams

Certificate recipient: Rochelle Simons chairs the Bermuda IoD branch’s professional development committee

Four Bermudian-based women have passed a tough exam for company directors.

Tracey Gibbons, senior vice-president of specialty insurance at Allied World Re, passed the Institute of Directors’ Certificate in Company Direction with distinction.

And Judith Hall Bean, a former senior civil servant, Natalie Neto, a senior associate with Cox Hallett Wilkinson, and Rochelle Simons, managing director of Sound View Ltd, all passed the same exam.

The four join 15 other Bermuda residents who hold a certificate from the Institute of Directors.

Ms Simons, who chairs the Bermuda IoD branch’s profession development committee, said: “We are delighted to add four more women to this group.

“We recently reviewed the number of registrations across all four courses in the programme from July 2013 to December 2015 and noted an equal split between men and women, albeit sometimes individual courses may have more women than men attendees and vice versa.

“It is therefore very satisfying to see a fairly balanced programme completion rate.”

Ms Simons added that she expected to see a further increase in the numbers of CICD holders by the end of this year.

It is expected that at least 11 candidates will be eligible to register for the next rounds exams, to be held in June and November.

The CICD programme was launched in Bermuda in 2013 and is made of up of four courses covering all aspects of directorship, including finance and leadership.
