Cook to chair Technology Leadership Forum

Group "performing well": Ian Cook, CEO of BAS Group

Bermuda Aviation Services Group chief executive Ian Cook is to head a charity aimed at helping young Bermudians towards a career in IT.

Mr Cook has taken over as chairman of the board at the Technology Leadership Forum.

Mr Cook said: “The charity’s mission is to help develop young enthusiastic IT talent, an asset to the growth of Bermuda’s technology industry.

“I look forward to the inspiring interns of 2017 and assisting them with mentoring into our future IT leaders.”

Mr Cook, who takes over from Sandra DeSilva, the chairman for the past two years, has backed the TLF for more than six years.

He has served as deputy chairman and in a number of other board of directors’ roles.

Mr Cook is an engineer, with international experience in Europe and Dubai.

He is replaced by Lloyd Holder, vice-president of IT services at Bermuda Hospitals Board, as deputy chairman.

Other members of the new-look board are: Brittany Easton, Christopher Phillips, Dion Tucker, Nancy Volesky, Vicki Coelho, Ronnie Viera, Aaron Smith, Brett Henshilwood and Samuel Matthews.

Ex officio members are Marisa Stones and Sloane Chinapoo.

TLF added that the organisation will accept applications for its summer internship programme until Thursday, April 13.
