Appleby speakers at trusts forum

Appleby Bermuda Partners Keith Robinson and Vanessa Schrum will be speaking at the Transcontinental Trusts International Forum 2017.

The two-day forum in Bermuda starts tomorrow.

More than 65 speakers including renowned judges, barristers, leading law firm partners and international experts from across the world will take part in the private client and trusts event.

Mr Robinson will be a moderator for a session titled, “Extracting Information from Trusts”.

This session will take the form of a trustee posing a number of tricky questions to legal advisers who will be on the spot to provide advice concerning various information requests. Topics covered will include protector consent, onshore data protection laws, automatic reporting and TIEA orders as well as divorce within the family.

Mr Robinson is a Partner and member of the dispute resolution practice in Bermuda.

Ms Schrum will also serve as moderator on a panel titled, “Designer Legislation”.

The session will include discussion on the latest offshore statutory framework, specialist trusts created by statute (including STAR and VISTA trusts), the US perspective on designer legislation and practical tips for those initiating or litigating structures that take advantage of these provisions.

Ms Schrum is a partner and the head of the private client and trusts practice in Bermuda and has extensive experience on a wide range of trust and estate planning matters.
