Saltus teams head investment challenge ranks

Portfolio managers: the standings in the KPMG Investment Challenge, as at November 29

Two teams from Saltus Grammar School rule the roost at an early stage in the KPMG Investment Challenge.The “Birdbrains” and “Hayek Holdings” are number one and two, respectively, in the challenge table. They are among 22 teams keeping a close eye on the stock market and economic news as they each manage an imaginary portfolio containing $100,000-worth of shares.The teams competing in the KPMG Investment Challenge, and are pitted against other senior schools to see who can invest and grow their imaginary portfolio the most during a six-month period. At the end of the contest, the top three teams win cash prizes for their school, to be used for educational initiatives.The Birdbrains’ portfolio was worth $103,057 on November 29, which put them ahead of fellow Saltus team Hayek Holdings, on $102,970.In third place is CedarBridge Academy team “FourPeasInaPod,” with a portfolio worth $102,904.
