Makese Bean has successfully graduated with a Master of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama, during the Spring Commencement Exercises, held on May 11, 2002. Makese obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama.

In the autumn, Makese will be pursuing a Doctorate in Education. Makese has been a recipient of the Bermuda Government Further Education award and the Paget Lion's Club Education Award.
