Caisey Family Productions is on target for the November 3 launch of its latest production, ‘Three Greats', which will feature the works of musical legends Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. The all-star cast of Bermudian singers, dancers and musicians will again include many members of the multi-talented Caisey family. The show will take place at City Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and tickets ($30) are available from Kit ‘n' Caboodle and the People's Pharmacy. All proceeds will go to the Allan Vincent Smith Foundation for the specific benefit of children with AIDS, who are often verbally abused and ostracised once their condition becomes known. Each year the Foundation sends AIDS-infected children to a special camp in the US, where they can relax and have fun, and also learn how to deal with the stigma playmates and others may impose upon them.
lThe Bermuda International Film Festival (BIFF) is holding its premier fundraiser, an evening of fine wine and gourmet food, at Waterloo House on November 16.
‘Splendour in the Glass' will feature a flight of wines by celebrated California boutique vintner and noted raconteur, Jedediah Tecumeseh Steele, winemaker/owner of Steele Wines Inc., and a five-course gourmet dinner designed by Waterloo House chef de cuisine Harry Gwiasda. BIFF is holding the event in partnership with Burrows Lightbourn Ltd., exclusive distributor in Bermuda of Steele Wines in Bermuda.
BIFF, a registered charity set up in 1997, will hold its sixth festival from April 11 to 17 next year, the mission of which is to advance the love of independent film from around the world, and create a community welcoming to filmmakers and filmgoers. Proceeds from the November fundraiser will help to support the continued growth of the festival, which has seen the programme grow from 28 films in 2000 to the 55 films from 16 countries in 2002.
While the film festival is well supported by the Bermuda community, it is also important that BIFF raise more funds by its own efforts, so BIFF director Aideen Ratteray Pryse is urging everyone to support its first-ever fund-raiser while enjoying a wonderful evening. Tickets ($225) are available from the BIFF office ( 293-3456, or by e-mailing bdafilmibl.bm.
