Mad Monster Party
7 p.m. Opening Night Film
(Ages 5 and Up)
Director: Jules Bass/United States/1967/95 minutes/Colour/Animation
Join us as we pay tribute to Bermudian film producer Arthur Rankin Jr. with a screening of his classic animated horror film. The classic monsters Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dr. Jekyll, the Creature, Dracula, the Werewolf, and the Invisible Man, are all here! After discovering the secret of destruction, Baron von Frankenstein is retiring as head of the World Wide Organisation of Monsters. He?s handpicked his mortal nephew Felix to be his successor, and his fellow monsters are less than pleased. Even though Felix politely declines to carry on this family tradition, the monsters band together and double-cross one another in comic attempts to expel Felix from the group.
Come dressed as your favourite monster - we will award prizes for the best costumes!
Costume parade at 6.30 p.m, film starts at 7 p.m.

Director: Nelson Shin/South Korea/2005 minutes/Colour/Animation/Korean with English subtitles
Chung, the good-natured daughter of a blind man, loves her father so much that she is willing to do anything to help him regain his sight. When a sea monster makes the waters so rough the fishermen can?t fish, they offer Chung a deal. If she sacrifices herself to appease the gods and restores calm to the sea, they will give her father 300 bags of rice as an offering to Buddha, who will then restore his sight. After gathering up her courage, Chung plunges from a ship into the icy waves, and floats through the depths to the ocean floor. It is here that her real adventures begin! Wonderfully animated in a gorgeous wash of vivid colour, Empress Chung is the first film to be released simultaneously in North and South Korea.
