l Earmark Saturday night for the family concert being presented by faculty of the Bermuda School of Music at St. Paul's church in Paget.

The programme will consist of light-hearted, relaxed entertainment featuring exciting versions of familiar tunes, such as 'Peter Pan,' 'The Little Mermaid,' 'Carnival of the Animals,' 'Flamingo Bay,' and a one-piano, four-hand performance of 'Chopsticks.'

New faculty artists who will be performing are Chas Arnold (violin) and Carol Everson (bass). Former and returning faculty artists are James Burn and Jennifer Sheridan.

Other faculty members are: Janet Budden, Sarah Danby, Mark Dorrell, Tatiana Dran, Jyrki Pietila, Louise Risby and John York Skinner.

Tickets (adults $20, young people $10) are available from Pianos Plus, Opus/Encore, Meyer Agencies and the Bermuda School of Music.

The Windjammer Gallery will get the Christmas shopping ball rolling for art lovers with its new exhibition, 'Miniatures for Christmas III,' which opens to the public on November 16 and continues through December 1. An opening night reception will be held on November 15 from 5.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Participating artists include Diana and Eric Amos, Susan Curtis, Helen Daniel, Amy and Vaughn Evans, Sheilagh Head, Jonah Jones, Chris Marson, Stephen Masters, Jon Mills, Diana Tetlow and Bruce Stuart.

Well-known artist Jonah Jones is running in the New York marathon on Sunday to raise funds for capital improvements at The Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard. According to curator Justine Foster, the west end gallery is in urgent need of new flooring, new display units and office furniture, and also requires essential repairs.

Members are circulating sponsorship forms, and appeals have also gone out to corporate sponsors.

The target figure is $80,000 of which the Arts Centre aims to raise half, and the Bank of Bermuda has promised that if it succeeds, it will match that amount.
