Department of Health's Maternal Health and Family Planning Clinic.

Under the "Norplant'' system, a tiny rod-like implant containing the hormone Progesterone is inserted under the skin of the patient.

"The procedure takes only a few minutes, and is almost painless, but gives contraceptive protection for five years,'' a clinic spokesperson said.

"It is completely safe for the patient and any side-effects are usually minimal.'' Further information about Norplant can be obtained from the clinic's nursing supervisor Mrs. Rowse, or doctor-in-charge Dr. Peek-Ball. They are reached by phone on 236-0224 (ext. 238).
