BUEI lecture features whale specialist

Institute (BUEI) tonight and tomorrow night for a lecture by Wheelock college's professor Mike Williamson.

Mr. Williamson will discuss his use of up-to-the-minute technology, including satellite tagging and real reporting on his unique WhaleNet web site.

This acclaimed site, found at whale.wheelock.edu , is a free service frequently accessed by students and teachers.

Its simple design, which includes an ask the scientist section and curriculum supplements for teachers, ensures current research on marine creatures is available to a wide audience.

Mr. Williamson has attempted tagging humpback whales off Bermuda with BUEI founding trustee Teddy Tucker and his presentation will stress Bermuda's excellent environment for oceanography and marine biology.

Lectures begin at 7 p.m. and doors will open at 6.30 p.m. each evening.

Tickets are $7.50 for members, $10 for non members and active volunteers are free.

A buffet dinner for $25 will be served by La Coquille in the lobby at 8 p.m.
