Speaker to address Island’s issues
Anti-social behaviour among the Island’s youth will be discussed today and Wednesday when Ohio-based motivator, author and community educator, Alfred (Coach) Powell, holds two presentations on behalf of the Mirrors Programme.
Professor Powell, an internationally recognised award-winning keynote speaker, lecturer and workshop facilitator, will offer solutions to protecting the youth from the ‘the intoxication of the Hip Hop Generation’, trends in street culture, gang violence, substance abuse, irresponsible sex and the marketing of violence. Mirrors is calling the two-night presentation a “must hear for parents, educators, godparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins” as Mr Powell offers tools to aid in protecting our children and minimising the risk of their engagement in problem behaviours.
Today’s presentation will take place at Sandys Secondary Middle School assembly hall and will be followed up by a second presentation on Wednesday at Whitney Institute Middle School assembly hall. The doors open at 5.30pm for a 6.30pm start and admission is free.
