Noted musician to give organ recital at church

An award-winning musician will perform at a recital at St Paul AME Church this weekend.Charles Callahan, a noted composer, conductor, organist and pianist, will take centre stage at Sunday’s event.The recital will be the first held at the Hamilton church since its Rodgers-Casavant organ was restored last year.The organ was designed and built by Adrian Ridgeway of Bermuda Pipe Organ Company.Dr Callahan will present a varied programme of “well known works for the organ, original compositions and a meditation for violin and organ (Glazunov) featuring Lionel Thomas (violin)”.Said Rev Dr Lanel Guyton: “We could not ask for a more renowned organist for this dedicatory recital. The programme is free to all and we will raise an offering in support of the church’s feeding programme for the needy and unemployed. This is a remarkable event in support of a very worthy cause.”The recital will start at 4pm.
