Seven contestants vie for Miss Bermuda crown

Seven girls have been selected to represent their parishes in the upcoming Miss Bermuda Pageant.This year’s competition will be “even more spectacular” than the last, organisers promise.Rochelle Minors will represent Sandys; Deshona Perinchief, Warwick; Lene Hypolite, Devonshire; Chelsy Furtado, Pembroke; Dwanae Simons, Smith’s; Dashunte Furbert, Hamilton Parish and Shannon Ingram, St George’s.The pageant will take place at the Fairmont Southampton on July 8.Organiser Milika Trott-Seymour said she received “a very good response” from young women interested in competing.“We now have a wonderful group of ladies who are dedicated and determined to do their best.“All of the young ladies are very goal-orientated and showed great promise before entering so, I’m excited to see them grow even more throughout the pageant process.”This will be the second year Mrs Trott-Seymour has been involved with the beauty contest. Last year’s competition saw the crowning of reigning Miss Bermuda, Jana Outerbridge of St George’s East.Mrs Trott-Seymour: “With every event comes more knowledge and I expect I will learn something new every year even if I produce this event for the next 30 years; it's the only way to improve.”Mrs Trott-Seymour said she couldn’t have asked for a better production team last year. The sold-out event received lots of positive feedback from the public.“However there's always ways to improve, so we this year's show will be even more spectacular,” she added.The event will be hosted by comedian and actor Nadanja Bailey and radio personality Patrina (Power Girl) Paynter.
