‘Where you want to be’ — help comedian Jah Simmons celebrate his birthday

Local comedic entertainer Jah Simmons is encouraging people to have a laugh with him this weekend in honour of his birthday. He will be bringing in some of his comedic friends from here and overseas for an event at Ruth Seaton James Auditorium tomorrow night.

What does a clam do on his birthday? He shellabrates!

Ok, so maybe that wasn’t funny. But one event that is promising a lot of genuine laughs is Jah Simmons birthday comedy show tomorrow night.

Mr Simmons has invited some of his favourite comic friends from here and overseas for the ‘LMAO Comedy Series’, kicking off at Ruth Seaton James Auditorium at 8.30pm; with doors opening at 7.15pm.

Local radio personality Eddie G and comedic entertainer Nadanja Bailey will be taking to the stage, while overseas talents like Dawn B, Rudy Rush and Comedian Jay will be flying in just for the occasion.

“Female comedian Dawn B, from San Diego, California, is being brought back by popular demand. She has been here once before and was a hit with the audience,” Mr Simmons said. “Comedian Jay is a crowd favourite from New York. He is a good entertainer and gets the crowd right into it. He has been in the game probably longer than any of us and just finished off with seven shows with Mike Epps this week.

“The headliner for the night will be Rudy Rush and he actually is former host of Showtime at the Apollo after taking over from Steve Harvey. Now he has done his own special for HBO, Comedy Central and toured with people like Mike Epps and Jamie Foxx.”

Mr Simmons said guests who attend were guaranteed to have a great night.

“If you are looking for a good laugh at a good price this is where you want to be tomorrow,” he said.

“You can’t beat the price as you have six comedians for $40 and it’s a good way to start off the year.”

Over the years Mr Simmons has built a strong following of fans on the Island and said people will know what kind of quality to expect from his event. “We haven’t disappointed people all these years and don’t plan on starting now,” he added.

Tickets are $40 for general admission, $30 for members of Multi Entertainment, a registered local charity, and $55 for VIP guests.

They can be purchased at Qui-Ja Fabrics locations in the Walker Arcade, Hamilton and Somerset; 27th Century Boutique and East End Mini Yacht Club. For more information, e-mail multientertainment@live.com.
