Boys Brigade show generosity

Six needy families will feel the warmth of the Christmas spirit this holiday thanks to the generosity of the Bermuda Boys Brigade.

The organisation raised $600 through their annual Christmas car wash in November with the help of sister organisation the Girls’ Brigade.

The funds were used to buy six $100 Belco vouchers which were then presented to The Family Centre to distribute to the needy.

Boys Brigade Captain David Semos said they chose The Family Centre because they wanted to assist a charity that helped children.

“We teach our boys to be charitable,” Mr Semos said. “We made a group decision to always help children and their families since that is also what the Boys Brigade tries to do. We feel that we and The Family Centre share the same values.”

Mr Semos said the boys were proud to hand over the funds to Martha Dismont of The Family Centre.

“The boys were very proud and so were the parents who are always encouraged to work alongside the children at our car washes,” he said. “We believe that the best way to teach a child anything is through example.”
