Bad weather causes travel delays

Flights between Bermuda and the US have been cancelled or delayed today due to storms affecting the east coast.And the weather here has caused the cancellation of some ferry services for the rest of the day.“As of 12 pm this afternoon the Department of Marine and Ports advised that the blue route was cancelled for the rest of the day,” said a spokesman.“On the pink route, service to Belmont Ferry stop is suspended with all other stops running on normal holiday schedule.”Would-be travellers were advised to check departure times before heading to the airport.A release issued by the Department of Airport Operations today said the following flights had been affected:Delta flights DL 560 and DL 561 to and from Boston cancelled;JetBlue flights 1731 and B61732 to and from JFK cancelled;Continental flights CO1657 and CO1660 from Newark cancelled (the aircraft is still on the ground in Bermuda;America Airlines flights AA1378 and AA1443 cancelled;US Air flights US1070 and US1425 from Philly delayed three hours.Long-term parking at LF Wade International Airport is full to capacity as a result of the delays and cancellations, the spokesman added.“While provisions are being made to allocate additional parking spaces on a limited basis, travellers are urged to make arrangements for a taxi or to be dropped off to avoid difficulties finding parking.”
