Motorcyclist injured in early morning crashA woman motorcyclist who was injured when she lost control of her bike on Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke on Sunday was in a stable condition on a general ward at the hospital yesterday.The 26-year-old was taken to King Edward VII Memorial hospital by ambulance after the crash around 1.20am.A Police spokesman appealed for witnesses to the incident, which took place near the junction with Dutton Avenue, to call Pc Lorna Wright on 295-0011.Man injured after confronting cycle thievesA 32-year-old man was put in hospital after he confronted two men trying to steal his motorcycle.He was assaulted by the pair outside a Hillsdale, Smith’s parish home around 4.20am on Sunday.The two then fled the scene on a motorcycle.The victim, a Smith’s parish man, was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and subsequently discharged.Police have asked anyone with information to contact the St George’s Criminal Investigation Unit, on 293-2222.Four people injured in weekend road accidentsTraffic accidents over the weekend saw four people admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.A motorcycle driven by a 20-year-old Devonshire woman crashed at the junction of Middle Road and Scenic Heights Pass, Southampton about 2.30am Monday.The woman and her passenger, an 18-year-old Sandys man, were both hurt.A 28-year-old Hamilton Parish man was taken to hospital after his motorcycle collided with a car on North Shore Road at 10pm on Sunday.The accident happened near the Radnor Road junction in Hamilton Parish.And a 61-year-old woman from Maryland was treated at KEMH after she lost control of her rental cycle.That accident happened around 4pm Sunday on South Road, Paget, near Southcote Road.All four have since been discharged from hospital.A total of 15 collisions were reported over the weekend six were damage only; nine collisions resulted in injury.One person was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Five vehicles were reported stolen, and there were also four reported burglaries.Anti-drug and bullying workshop to be held tonightA retired police officer from Canada is on the Island to educate parents on the scourge of drugs.Dwayne Peace, a facilitator for anti-bully programme Dare to Care, will talk to parents tonight about the dangers and pressures facing teens to use drugs.The workshop entitled ‘The Truth About Drugs’ will take place in the Mount Saint Agnes auditorium from 6 to 8pm.The presentation is open to the public.
