A trial date has been set for a man accused of wilfully obstructing two Police officers and resisting arrest. Dennis Leroy Lottimore, 24, of Patience Avenue, Sandys, denied committing the offences on July 7, 2005, in Pembroke, when he appeared at Magistrates? Court last week.
A trial date was set for April 12 and he was bailed by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.
Stop speeding, student told
A student was told by a magistrate to stop speeding after she admitted doing 74 kph on her scooter on her way to college.
Shakia Hayward, 21, of Mount Hill, Pembroke, told Magistrates? Court she needed her scooter to get to college and to work at Harrington Sound.
She said she was on her way to school from work on November 30 when she was clocked doing 74 kph. She pleaded guilty to speeding and having no licence.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined her $400 for speeding and $100 for having no licence. He told her: ?You have got to stop speeding.?
House pump theft allegation denied
Anthony Winslow Outerbridge, 44, of Riviera Road, Southampton, appeared at Magistrates? Court last Wednesday, where he denied stealing a house pump worth $580 on January 10. The offence is alleged to have happened in Pembroke. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned for a trial at the Magistrates? Court on April 10. Outerbridge was released on bail.
Man, 65, accused of damaging taxi
A 65-year-old man denied unlawfully causing more than $60 worth of damage to a taxi when he appeared at Magistrates? Court last week. Harry Dudley Caines, of Boundary Terrace, Devonshire, is alleged to have committed the offence on October 8, 2005 in Devonshire. A trial date was set for April 10 at Magistrates? Court and he was bailed.
Driver was more than twice over the limit
A drunk driver who was more than twice over the limit was fined $1,000 and banned from the roads for 12 months at Magistrates? Court last week.
Andrew Hunt, 22, of Riddell?s Bay Road, Warwick Parish, admitted driving a vehicle up Front Street while impaired by alcohol.
The offence happened at 1.35 a.m. on December 21. Hunt was stopped after Police saw him driving a red Opal with his headlights turned off. He was found to have 165 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg per 100 ml.
Two plastic twists contained cocaine
A man who fled a Hamilton barber?s shop as it was about to be searched by Police was carrying crack cocaine. William Robinson, 44, of Berkeley Road, Pembroke, admitted possession of the drug when he appeared at Magistrates? Court last week.
Prosecutor Oonagh Vaucrosson told the court that on March 18, 2005, members of the Police narcotics team were about to execute a warrant to search a barber?s shop in Reid Street.
?Police observed the defendant as he exited the barber?s shop and got on a motorcycle,? she said. ?As Police approached the defendant, he dropped from his left hand two clear plastic twists to the ground.?
She said the twists contained a white substance, later found to be 1.72 grams of cocaine freebase.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked him if he was delivering the drugs to the shop.
Robinson shook his head. ?I was going through some changes in my life,? he said. ?I was using the drug.?
He was fined $1,000 and told he faced three months in prison if he defaulted on the payment.
Man denies having bladed article
Tafari Saifu Wolde Maxwell, 24, of Bean Dale, Spanish Point, Pembroke, denied having a bladed article. A trial date was set for January 26 at Magistrates? Court and he was bailed.
Teenager faces cannabis charge
A 17-year-old boy ? who cannot be named for legal reasons ? denied possession of cannabis. The offence is alleged to have happened on December 8, 2005 in Pembroke Park. A trial date was set for March 27 at Magistrates? Court and the youth was bailed.
