Police said this afternoon that they are investigating a “confirmed firearm incident” that took place in Sandys this morning.

A spokesman said: “Around 3.40am today, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident in the Broome Street, Sandys parish area. On arrival officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity.

“Forensic evidence found subsequently suggested that a firearm had been discharged; however no one has reported being injured. An active investigation into this matter is underway.”
